My Little Monster

DOES THIS LOOK LIKE THE FACE OF A MONSTER?

Yeah, I don’t think so either. Leah is really a pretty great kid. She loves to play, laugh, learn and explore. Yet, on the occasion when she gets a little bit overtired, she can turn that sweet face into a scowl.

This evening Leah has been in her bed since 7 o’clock. Her normal bed time is 8:30, but due to the fact that she slammed the door in Joe’s face and said some not very nice things to the both of us, she has been sent to bed early. She cried, she screamed, she even gave me a little smack. She told me that she would apologize, but only so she could get back out of bed. When I told her that she could say she was sorry but that she still had to stay in bed she then did something that surprised Joe and I both. She asked us into her room and then apologized with the most sincerity that a four year old can muster up. She hugged and kissed us, told us both how sorry she was and said that she loves us. She has since settled down in her bed. I hope she will be asleep soon.

During those times when children are on your last nerve, they go and do something that just blows you away. I just knew there was a good girl inside that little monster of mine.

Wow, that’s a Super Nanny moment! You and your husband sound like good parents. I like that you didn’t give in even when she apologized. That’s what makes the monsters go away!

We have simiar issues with C. He needs much more sleep than he is getting since he dropped his nap. But the appologies make it almost all worth it!

Oh, I have a little four year old drama queen as well!
    Aren’t they fun?:)

I’ll ditto what Joannah said. It’s HARD sometimes when your baby has Jekyl & Hyde moments.

And no, it’s certainly not the face of a monster. Look at those eyes!

P.S. Like the new look of your site!

William has his tantrums as well. We really do put up with a lot. Just goes to show how much we love our kids.

Can’t we all be monsters sometimes? : )

Love the new look! I want to do something different as well.

Wow, that’s great. And, good job keeping her in bed.

I’m proud of that little one (and of you). You must be doing something right.

    I like your new look.

You’re goooooood, not giving in after the heartfelt apology. I try not to give in, but sometimes I do.

She sounds like a sweetie & even the sweetest ones have their moments.

(When I was a teen, I slammed my BR door on my mom & the next day my step-dad took my door off the hinges & put it in the basement. It was hard to slam a sheet 🙂

Must be the season for temper tantrums. Gillie just had a similar meltdown last night. But I didn’t get the sweet little apology that Leah gave. So she went to bed at 6:30.

Some times it just takes all you got not to wring their little necks.
