Well, after twenty days of being away, we finally arrived home on Monday afternoon. Awaiting us on the front lawn when we arrived were my parents and half the neighborhood! Hung up around our property was a “Welcome Home” sign, “It’s a Girl” banner and no less than two storks. At least eight mailboxes were decorated with pink balloons. My neighbor Sheila was the mastermind of the little welcome home party and her teenage daughter Summer was text messaging our location as we drove home from the airport so everyone would be outside when we drove up to the house. It was such a nice way to arrive home. She has also arranged a meal plan – each night we will be receiving a home cooked meal from a different neighbor, which means I shouldn’t have to cook or go to the grocery store for a least a week. What a wonderful way to arrive home!
Other than our little party, we have been doing the typical jet lag shuffle. Not so fun with two kids (oh, and neither was the flight home – Leah did just fine as always, but Maya only cat napped, which meant that the fifteen hour long flight took FOREVER)! After being in five aircrafts in the last two and half weeks, I don’t want to see the inside of another plane for a long time.
Our trip to China was no less than fantastic. Except for a minor hiccup here and there, and the oppressing heat, it was really a wonderful experience for our entire family. Having said that, it sure was nice to lay my head down on my own pillow and to take a bath in my own bathtub. It only goes to show you that there truly is “no place like home.”
Welcome home! And congrats on a successful trip!
Welcome home!
Oh, welcome home. I thought I saw your IP address on my stat counter …taking a peek at my blog earlier today and was thinking that you might have gotten home.
Enjoy the pampering your family and neighbors are giving you. It really does take a good couple weeks to recover and start getting into the swing of things again.
So happy for you and your groggy little family! 🙂
How exciting to be finally home with your newly expanding family!! you are very lucky to have such great neighbors. A friend of mine arranged meals for us after our daughter was born, and it was such a help. Ours were every other day for about 3 weeks. Each meal lasted about 2 days, so I was very lucky to not have to cook in those first few weeks.
I hope you are settling in, and maybe even getting a little sleep.
Welcome home! Rest when you can. Can’t wait to see pictures of you all settled in!
Welcome Home Sweet Family. XO
Welcome back!
Welcome home! What a wonderful bunch of neighbors you have to throw you a party and make meals for you 🙂
Welcome home family OF FOUR! Hope you all recover from jet lag & time change quickly.
What a gift to have such supportive neighbors. How awesome of them to prepare meals for you – dinner will never taste so yummy.
What an awesome welcome home! Glad you made it safe and sound.
Welcome home!
Welcome home! Only one week of jet lag left!
Welcome home and thank you for sharing your trip with us.
Now. Get some rest!
Hey S! Congratulations on a successful adoption!!! Your new daughter is beautiful!
My girlfriend who I traveled in Hong Kong & Singapore with was in Beijing for business the same time you and your family was. She then went to Shanghai for another meeting then we met up in HK. Such a small world really. Yeah, Hong Kong was fantastic and Singapore was great. It’s nice to be home in Okinawa for now (what a strange concept) but I’m hopeing to get my husband to HK next year some time.
XOXO-K
Welcome home! What great neighbors! Good luck with the jet lag…it is tough!
What a long time to be away! What a nice welcome home you had – we had a similar welcome home and it meant so much and helped ease the jetlag pain a bit.
Welcome home! Glad to hear that you are all safe and sound.

Welcome home!!!!
Congratulations! I only found your blog tonight by chance and I’m so glad I did! What a wonderful thing to happen…your growing family(!) and all that support at home. Wow. I cried happy tears reading the post…we had an 18mth boy placed with us for adoption in January. He will be 2 next week! Adoption is oh so different over here(UK) and even though he’s with us…it will be a long time before we can have any real celebrations. I am so happy for you…for you all. xxx
Hi Stephanie!
It was so nice to meet you, Leah and Maya today at Heather’s! We had a great time and hope to see you again soon. Kelsey really enjoyed playing with the big girls (and Mason) today.
Hope the jet lag disapates soon and I really admire you for being out and about and at a party so soon!
Take care!
